Modern Football

A term used the describe the negative aspects of (association) football as it stands today.

Specifically, Modern Football refers to:

- rip-off ticket prices and merchandise
- all seater stadia
- over-zealous policing and stewarding of football crowds
- players being traded like merchandise
- games being played at non traditional times

- teams changing places (see MK Dongs)
- foreign club owners who know sod all about anything
- the stupid amounts of money involved in the sport generally

What this means is that real, passionate fans are priced out from watching their own teams, and are replaced by corporate wankers who turn football grounds into soulless libraries. The few true fans who still go to matches are treated like scum by stewards and police.

With this much money involved the powers that be (FIFA, UEFA etc) are extremely corrupt, and are open to bribes; either money or sexual favours.

There are however, those who resist...

In Europe, lively, colourful and rowdy supporters known as Ultras are committed to fighting modern football. They are very organised and powerful; to the point, in some cases that they effectively run the club.

In other instances, disgusted fans have broken away to form their own club. For example:

FC United of Manchester from Manchester United
AFC Wimbledon from MK Dons
SV Austria Salzburg from FC Red Bull Salzburg

Football is ours, it's time to take it back.

Moderator

An internet virus.

A very little man, probably the spawn of J. Edgar Hoover with Cromwellian tendencies of stamping out opposing views on internet forums and chat rooms and rewarding sycophants. He's long given up the stakeout, the binoculars and the wire taps in favor of online activities behind the scenes. The more banal the website topic or thread, the crueler his tactics and iron fist becomes. His past is riddled with rejection, inability to hold a job or maintain friendships. And this arena, or "forum" is precisely the drug he needs to fulfill his illusions of grandeur and the taste of power over others.

Avoid him at all costs and find "real" humans to talk to, not avatars on a computer screen.
Guy#1: "I got booted out of that history forum today!"

Guy#2: "Really, why?"

Guy#1: "That moderator got po'd when I corrected him and told him Dumas was French mulatto and not 100% white. He said he'd banish me to internet Siberia if I attempted to challenge him again."

Guy#2: "Wow, that's just plain wrong!"

Modern Warfare 2 Syndrome

After playing hours of Modern Warfare 2, the uneasy feeling one experiences in the real world. Often manifests itself as feeling exposed when in open spaces. The subject can be seen crouching next to a wall or sprinting from one building to another.
Nick (walking): I was thinking of buying a video game. Any recommendations?

Aaron (crouching and peering around a corner): You should get Modern Warfare 2. Its exciting and has changed my life for the better. Its the video game that stays with you everywhere!

Nick: Sounds like someone is suffering from Modern Warfare 2 Syndrome...

Gamefaqs Moderator

These fine people that dedicate their spare time and effort, tirelessly deleting messages that wouldn't offend a two year old.
Irratable, cranky, constantly afflicted with the condition known as sand in your vagina-itis, they seek to do nothing more and nothing less than ruining jokes, deleting stories, and violating little children with large phallic objects.

How do you become a GameFAQs moderator?
Well, here's what you need:
1. An account older than two years with a clean moderation record. Basically, you must have an account where you basically post "hi" once a month for two years.

2. A unending desire to narc on strangers.

3. Unending loyalty to a flawed, inherently racist code of laws. Read the rules. The moderators can delete any message for any reason whatsoever. It's true. You can read ever rule and follow them to the letter, but you'll still get moderated.

4. You must be a person that derives joy from ruining the fun of others. This is probably the most important rule.

5. A total of twelve smirf or similar services t0 CjayC, owner and sell-out-er of GameFAQs. Also note that you must forever refer to him as Master, and must wear a gimp mask to look especially imposing.

Moderator: Wow. This is fun. Maybe I should go murder some orphans and violate their corpses. Wait, no. That's what we did yesterday.
