A term used to describe a type of hip-hop or rap music that is characterized by its radio-friendly lyrics and messages. In recent years not-hop music has increased in popularity thanks to hipsters and others who decided to take a non-offensive stance on rap. Not-hop is hip-hop that soccer moms approve of and listen to. Not-hop artists include Drake, Kanye West and Macklemore.
Macklemore's hit single, 'Thrift Shop' is not-hop.
