A desktop wallpaper that fails so hard, the creator would've had to be high to believe that anyone could possibly want to see it every day.

Common aspects of a failpaper:

1. Resized one way but not the other (i.e. stretched out)
2. Resized from a shitty 200 pixel image to be a 1600 x 1200 wallpaper.
3. Made in MS Paint.
4. Saved as a JPEG at the lowest possible quality.

When a magnitude of a problem as a consequence of an action goes beyond a simple mistake, it is otherwise known as a failstake. However, failstakes rank under the degree of epic fail.

"I tried to wipe Mr. Krabby's first dollar with your tie and ended up covering the whole thing with paint by mistake."
