A phrase that was probably not coined by the Ultramagnetic MC's, but was most definitely made popular by their 1987 single, "Traveling At The Speed of Thought". This essentially means to brainstorm.

Cedric: How are we supposed to explain losing $3,000 this weekend?!

Keith: Don't flip out. Let's just Travel At The Speed of Thought and we will come up with something.

Domino thought

When someone says something and you think about it. Then one thought leads to another leads to another, until you’re thinking of something way off topic.

friend: "christmas is almost here."

you (thinking): "it is isn't it? I bet the stores are packed. I wonder when I should go christmas shopping...maybe when I do I should get myself new pants, since all of my pants are ripped.."

you (outloud): "have you ever noticed that I have holes in all my pants?"

friend:.....

Did the teacher forget to assign homework?

Was your neighbor complaining about overgrown hedges?

I just thought you should know(IJTYSK) will ALWAYS be there to relay these messages!

IJTYSK is typically used as a preceding comment, meant to soften the blow of inevitable bad news.

Usage of IJTYSK as a trailing comment is not uncommon, thought more in line with southern classic "Bless your heart"

"Class dismissed!"

"I just thought you should know...you didn't assign weekend homework"

"I just finished my first 5k!"

"I just thought you should know...over 5 million people run a 5k at least once a month."

"This restaurant is great, the owner is so friendly."

"I just thought you should know...he doesn't pay his taxes and cheats on his wife."

"I just made an entry in to the Urban Dictionary!"

"I just thought you should know...anybody can add anything to Urban Dictionary, it's not an accomplishment. It's like bragging that you got accepted to Facebook."

To have the family home for Thanksgiving would be suicidal, and I never thought I'd be saying this.
