A real goth doesn't conform to any trend. Wearing all black was an attempt to defy conformity, before it became a trend in itself. Real goths don't give much of a fuck about what they wear, it just happens that they wear black. This labeling is all about a persons mentality and beliefs, not the way the dress. Of course, because of little idiot kids, Goths have now become shamed... all because of little fuckheads trying to be different. It's all about the music and your mentality, not the way you appear.

a mallgoth also known as a "juggalo" is a wannabe goth, usually straight up white-trash. A typical mallgoth outfit consists of a poser band shirt(evanescence,Korn,HiM,Cradle of filth,insane clown posse etc.),skater shoes, tripp pants,studded belt a pentagram as well as eyeliner all over their face. They are the ones responsible for making Marilyn Manson look like a bad man, they misinterpret his lyrics and sometimes even shoot up schools in his name, Manson most likely never intended for this.
They do not listen to real gothic music, besides maybe the cure. Most of them have never heard of siuxsie & the banshees,Bauhaus,sisters of mercy, christian death,alien sex fiend,joy division or any of the other real goth band there are.
many claim to be "wiccan" this offends most pagans. they also love anime more than anything on earth... i could never find an explanation for this...

Get the gothan mug.A not so nice term, for an individual who strolls around the mall(s) all the time. It is difficult if you can tell if some one is a mall goth. Just because you see some one hanging out in the mall(s) and wearing tripp pants and slip knot tshirts, does not mean they are posers. A mall goth is some one who wants attention and is dressing and acting like some thing they are not. Most of these mall goths are younger teens who are trying to find something to relate to.
My advice would not be to yell rude things at them, or be rude at all. Leave them be, because for all you know they might just like a style, and just because they are at the mall does not mean they are a mall goth. Mall goths are just people who want attention and hang out at malls allot.
If you dress goth and like going to the mall allot, it does not make you a poser! As long as it is who you really are :)
