Keep something a secret.

There are four origins of this idiom (I GUARANTEE IT):

- English archers protected their bows by putting the strings on their heads under their helmets;
- “keep it under our hat” was mentioned in 1982 in periodical "Gleanings in Bee Culture";
- President Abraham Lincoln's stove pipe hat, where he kept important papers;
- the ceremonial swordbearer of the Lord Mayor of London (can be dated to 1420), who keeps the key to the Lord Mayor’s seal of office in a special pocket in his hat.

burn one's bridges

To leave all of your friends and acquaintances behind; to cause permanent damage in your relationships.

The idea is that there people who form bridges to your past. If you forget or insult them, you have burned all of your bridges to the past, and can never go back.

1) Even though you're quitting your job tomorrow, try not to burn one's bridges. You never know when you'll need help in the future.

2) There may be a conflict of interest if I work with both companies. Of course I don't want to burn one's bridges, so I should choose one company and let the other know that I can't work with them.

(verb construct) Indulging enthusiastically in one's favorite acts of sexual congress, esp. those activities most likely to appall mainstream society which one secretly enjoys best of all; wanton sexual gratification.

Standard usage limits definition to interactions with at least one other partner — but in hardship cases, this requirement may be waived to encompass solo practitioners so fugly they only get they freak on by theyselves.

I ain't sleep for shit last night, damn loud-ass skanky roommate up in there gettin' (her) freak on.

Long as you don't mind me getting (my) freak on before I bring her home, I be happy to take yo sister to the dance.

One often loses all track of time while getting one's freak on.

eating one's vegetables

Submitting to an unpleasant sexual act as punishment for bad behavior. Generally implies anal sex, but may also include cum sucking, fisting, and/or a golden shower. The phrase is derived from the fact that while at the dinner table with your mother, eating one's vegetables (in a literal sense), while unpleasant, is inescapable.

A. After being chastised by her husband for speaking out of turn at the dinner party, Elizabeth blushed, realizing that soon she'd be on all fours on the bedroom floor, eating her vegetables.

It is a person that exaggerates their self importance. These people like to boast or brag about their achievements, positions and accomplishments. Often seen as drama queens, blowhards and egomaniacs. These people like to inflate their credentials, but in reality they're not that important.

The people who like to inflate their claim to fame are a legend in one's own mind.
