Today, much of the violence has dwindled but there is still conflict with ideologically-driven guerilla groups in the remote parts of the country.
Not to sound too biased, but Colombia is a beautiful country, with a plethora of landscapes and varied geographies. Colombian people are friendly and love their soccer, parties, and family.
I doubt anyone can visit Colombia and not fall in love with it.
