This talk of retirement and changing of the guard by vicious people is just talk, since some people have already tried to talk Cam Newton into retiring (trying to convince him that he's already over the hill) and he's over a decade younger than Tom Brady, just now reaching the average age of an NFL quarterback. Tom Brady is not everybody's favorite quarterback, but he hasn't changed, he still plays like he's in his 20's. Besides a change of guard some people seem to want to see badly, there's nothing keeping Tom Brady or any other quarterback from playing as long as he wants to until he is ready to move on to the next chapter of his life on his own terms, not if it is what they truly love to do. You don't let people talk you out of doing something you love, that doesn't do anybody around you any good, it doesn't make anybody stronger.
Not everybody is going to like or agree with everything about the legacy of Tom Brady, but even the people that want a new guard rushed in, if they are being honest with themselves, are curious about how far the wheels can go before they fall off, and they know deep down that they aren't falling off yet, they're not done yet. They might even have a long way to go still, a lot of mileage to add.
