An opinion treated by its holder as if it were a fact; also, usually relevant facts are available and are more broadly accepted due to the preponderance of evidence supporting them. The opinion is therefore an "alternative" fact. Coined by Jim McCarthy in 2020.

That we can safely stay open standing shoulder to shoulder in the slaughterhouse 10 hours/day, Mr. Tyson, may be an alternafact.

A person who always has to have a different opinion just to be edgy or different, typically a woman who used to growl at people and shop at hot topic in high school and never grew out of it. Usually has dyed bright hair, still looks like a high schooler even though they are older than 20. Obsessed with fantasy movies and tv shows or anime more than kids. These people usually ruin something good for everyone else by also always trying to be special and different, never fun at parties and easily triggered.

I can’t stand Amy, she complained that the free snack bar at work didn’t have gluten-free, vegan, non GMO products so the company ended it, such an alternabitch.

alternavite

Alternative means a use that could not reasonably be made of the property before the loss. Exception: New equipment may have standard features that were unheard of when the lost or damaged equipment was acquired. Those are improvements you cannot avoid. They are not alternative uses. Or Alternative is fashion that stands apart from mainstream commercial fashion. Alternative fashion includes the fashions of specific subcultures such as emo, scene, goth subculture, hip hop, cyberpunk, and Lolita fashion; however, it is not limited to these.

A verbal and/or physical dust-up due to either someone's displeasure at da tailoring adjustments of a prized garment, or someone's decidedly NOT "holding his peace" at a wedding.

A bridal shop should pay due diligence during gown-preparations, to hopefully avoid any ALTERcations stemming from one or more wardrobe malfunctions during a "big day" ceremony.
