pseudo-intellectual

Implying the false display intelligence, this is a term correctly applied to people who lie about their own intellectual background, claim to have studied matters they haven't, to have read books they haven't, et cetera.

A great majority of Internet users, however, are fond of using the term incorrectly to, often anti-intellectually, refer to those whose phraseology annoys them.

'Dude! Dude hey!'

'What is it, Dan?'

'Dude, that guy said a weird word. He is such a pseudo-intellectual.'

'You're a fucking idiot, Dan.'

A person who is not in an elected office, but is garunteed to be elected to this office.

In District 11, Rep. A (R) is currently in office. Rep. A(R) chooses not to run in the 2004 election. Mr. B(D) wins his partys nomination for the election. No one from Rep. A(R)'s party runs his office. Since Mr. B(D) is the only one running for the office, Mr. B automatically wins and is a pseudo-incumbent.

PRONOUNCED (swaydo) 1. Something having a level of hipness or edge that is of retro orient. 2. Something old and useless that is paraded around in order to evoke irony.

A malapropism from the actual word psuedo pronounced improperly and used to mean something throwback or retro (usually from the 1980s). All things have a certain level of psuedo-ness and can therefor can be more or less psuedo than another item.
Griffin: what do you like better? cds or tapes?
Tom: well cds are more efficient, but you know tapes are... more psuedo.
