Doing what you want , don't thinking about the results or judgments given by others. Comforting others seems not the best option in every time. So sometimes people likely doing things only for there sake and own comfort.

It sounds like little egoistic but if it doesn't do a lot harm to others , this sounds reasonable.

The main people who say this have never been laid, just broke up, or are in true pain and agony. It is also a common phrase when there is a test and you didn't study. It is also usually said by the same guy that says We had homework?
