Gary Groundwork

'Gary Groundwork' is all about laying the foundation for desired sick leave (i.e. unjustified sick leave). This can involve over fake coughing, forced sniffling or pretending to lose one's voice. This is usually supported by verbal commentary such as 'I think I'm coming down with something'. Expertly performed 'Gary Groundwork' dupes co-workers and draws unwaranted sympathy. Therefore, when you call in sick, others have noticed that you supposedly had certain symptoms and comment accordingly.

Gary's Way

A reference to the show Spongebob Squarepants, where Spongebob give's his pet snail breakfast and says "serving it up, Gary's Way". Also refers to the act of taking a "study drug", eating, and drinking a caffeinated drink all at the same time.

You: I have a midterm tomorrow and I haven't studied yet.

Gardyloo

used in Edinburgh as a warning cry when it was customary to throw slops from the windows into the streets

Gardyloo is widely supposed to have been taken from French, although it is uncertain whether it comes from an actual French phrase (such as garde à l’eau!, “attention to the water!”) or if it was a mocking and mistaken imitation of that language. The words appears to have been in use since the late 18th century, and in early use tends to refer more often to defenestrating the contents of a chamber pot more than kitchen slops.
