You can’t get there from here

If you were raised in New England, that thing your dad said so many times when you were growing up despite not actually having the accent that if you hear it again you might throw whoopie pies at someone.
Dad: Kid, can’t get theyah from heeyah, pahk the cah at Hahvad yahd instead

Kid: You can’t get there from here because they don’t let annoying people into the city, duh

Flaherty will get you nowhere

What da "traditional St. Patrick's Day" humans in da world need to realize before employing sweet-talking "charmed advantages of their ancestral home-country" tactics in an attempt to solicit undue favor with others, such as being given special treatment, allowed extra leniency, etc.
Just because you've got Celtic roots and/or red hair and freckles, this does not mean that you should presume to be able to use your "luck of the Irish" strategy to weasel your way to undeserved gain or forgiveness --- generally speaking, Flaherty will get you nowhere!

Women: I was at the supermarket.
Cop: Really? We looked through the security cameras and you were no where to be found, cops also testify weren't carrying any groceries when you came back home.

Women: What are you getting at?

Cop: I'm saying that you killed your husband and used the supermarket as an alibi!
