According to the Oxford Dictionaries: "(2) Slang , a sexual activity of homosexuals involving mutual masturbation." According to Fintan O'Toole's review of Edward Mendelson's "Complete Works of W.H. Auden" (vols. V and VI) in the New York Review of Books of Oct. 22, 2015, the expression was used by W.H. Auden in his essay on J.R. Ackerley's memoir, "My Father and Myself". Auden made it into the OED with two citations (for first use in print) from this essay of his, for "plain-sewing" and for "Princeton-First-Year", which means frottage, or rubbing, generally. Using the hyphen better distinguishes the expression from its main usage, that is, to refer to simple sewing.

Bruce and Wayne started with just a little plain-sewing in the shower, but then quickly threw themselves into bed and gave it everything they had.

Plains syndrome

A person suffering from plains syndrome acts like they are the main character in any possible situation and they never get out of said character on the Internet. They may also talk excessively about powerscaling and superpower manipulation. Additionally, they might be a weeb, act immaturely and be chronically online (They will constantly take these so called "Breaks from the Internet" which won't last for more than a week.). This quirk makes the person very repulsive and anyone who showed them any compassion should be smitten, destroyed, killed, annihilated and fucked in the ass. Somehow they will always find a lover immediately after a breakup. They may also piss and shit their pants when people call out their mistakes and borderline racist remarks.

Plains suffers from plains syndrome. She had a mental breakdown after everyone ganged up on her and called her a racist because she made a racist joke. (undeserved.)

Plain

Someone that thinks cursing (expressing negative feelings in words that don't sound sweet) and anything not G rated or Disneyfied is inappropriate for everyone (just like walking around with no mask and hand sanitizer is inappropriate for everyone to plain adolescent souls). The kind of person that would hire a hitman to kill somebody then still talk about other people doing bad or inappropriate things.

Though he/she was always a clown, he/she was never really funny, because he/she was always a plain Mickey Mouse Club kind of clown. He/she claimed that people respected him/her, but the reality was that nobody owed him/her anything, including respect.
