Originated from a player on the world of warcraft server Frostmourne who despite living in the city trade channel 18 hours a day has never actually traded anything more than incoherent arguments.

Guy 1: Wow, that guy in city trade must be so rich; hes in there every hour of every day.
Guy 2: Well; nobody knows for sure how rich he is because he has never actually bought or sold anything.

A lie or relative truth told for a specific, usually administrative purpose, to avoid unnecessary complications.

Border guard: "Do you live at this address?"
Me: "Yes." (truth: not anymore, but I still know someone who lives there who's agreed to get the mail for me, since I'm in the process of moving from my other temporary location)
