The only real reasons to have one of these are: you are/were in prison, you are/were in a real criminal syndicate/group, you live with an island tribe, you are/were a sailor, you are/were in an army, you are/were in a concentration camp.
Why most people get tattoos: it looks cool, it looks "pretty", to "express themselves", mid-life crisis, intoxication, to piss of their parents, to not "conform" to society, to be gangsta posers, or because of general whiny-bitch teenage angst.

Most females aged 14-25 get a tattoo of butterflies, flowers, cartoon characters,pixies/fairies with a tribal design on their lower back/pelvic area. Basically means they like to get penetrated. Most males aged 14-40 get tribal armbands, crosses, asian writing, cartoon characters, religious figures, cards/dice, skulls.

Get the tattoomug. The art of having ink permenantly put in your third layer of skin. It is a very ancient art, and most modern day people either: 1) Believe it is a stupid act of idiocy, drunkeness, lust, rebellion, or a form of trying to attract/impress others. 2) Believe it is cool, the "hip" thing to do, or a great idea to do without putting any true consideration into it. Any person who is willing to get a tattoo should have a real reason to get it, wether that be self expression, a reminder of something, or a symbol of something(or somebody) you truly care about. Those who feel it is an idiotic/evil thing to do should grow up and start thinking outside the box.
1.
Sensible Newly Inked Person: I got a new tattoo, it's my grandfathers name. He taught me so much, and I want to show everybody that he is always with me.
2.
Retarded Wannabe Rebelious Teenager: Check out this Japanese character I got tattooed on my shoulder! Now all the chicks will think I'm cool, and all the jocks/preps/rednecks will quit making fun of me!

Get the tattoomug. A permanent drawing on the skin that shows that you are a conformist, a follower, a sheep, a person totally incapable of thinking for yourself, a mindless twit devoid of any originality, a twerp who wants to look just like every other tattooed clown in the world.
A tattoo is totally UNCOOL. Just take a look at Grandpa's arm, where he got his tattoo in Honolulu in 1945.

Get the tattoomug. Everyone relax, tattoos are a reflection of your soul on your skin/flesh. It's a way to lay claim to your body and excercise your right to not give a shit what other people think. Tattoos are something no one can tax or take from you. People who think they are overpriced really don't have any sense of value or self esteem, and should try doing it for a living. Enjoy the self employment tax and overhead. There's a difference between thrifty and cheap.
I just went to Slavedragon Studios today, and Endo did a killer tattoo on me. We worked on it for a week or so gathering resource material and coming up with some custom design work. It was more irritating than painful, yet extremely enjoyable!

Get the tattoomug. something that some people like, and others don't. lots of people between ages 18-35 have them. those who don't usually have the misconception that people only get tattoos to be cool and that they all will regret them in a few years. they also think that people with tattoos are conformists. in reality, they are obviously jealous otherwise they wouldn't spend so much time on UD writing negative things about people with them.
oh my god, like, did you ever consider that maybe people get tattoos because they WANT to? because they like them?
OMFG!
OMFG!

Get the tattoomug. A form of artwork that involves putting ink under your skin.
most people see it as ugly work while others see it as a part of individuality.
Most people regret getting tattoos because they were a quick 3 second decision while others who take time to plan them will love seeing the piece everyday.
Something that shifts when you get older but considering the amount of detail and care provided will not become a blotch of multi-colored skin.
Something that rarely be considered conformity. Tattooing is art and there is an infinite amount of ideas designs and creativity to dispel "sheep following". Basically unless you're getting flash (any random picture on a tat shop's wall) that everyone you know has you're not following anyone.
It is a serious form of art work and should be carefully thought about.

basic conservative dumb ass: anyone who gets a tattoo is being a conformist and will regret it after it's done
Basic spontaneous ink victim: I did love my butterfly tattoo when i first got it done but now i'm tired of looking at it.
Me: I love the star on my arm. It represents my daughter and it's comforting to see it everyday and know that she's a part of me
My daughter: dad i don't want to get a tattoo.
(response) it's your body and your choice.
