Example 1:

Susie: But, I don't like them, sister. They're yucky!

Sr. Mary: I can't believe you are wasting food. Why, there are starving kids in Africa who would give anything to have those brussel sprouts. So, you eat them, you hear? They're part of God's bountiful harvest.

Susie: (Looking guilty) Yes, sister.

Example 2:

Sr. Mary: (To class) As part of our Lenten service project, I am asking that each of you donate your lunch money today to the Feed the Children organization. In return, you will receive one cracker and a bowl of watered-down chicken broth for lunch - just like the starving kids in Africa eat every day.

Susie: (Looking longingly at her lunch money) Yes, sister.

1) When you get really hungry and your stomach hurts and all you can think about is food. good food. and you repeatedly say youre hungry and wanna look at pictures of food and eat it and then be really happy after.

2) Not getting enough food.

Striving

Striving is like trying. When you try, you put effort into whatever you're doing and then stop. Thus the phrase, "Try, try again". When you strive to do something, you put 110% into the task and you keep going until you either accomplish it or you confirm that what you're trying to do is impossible.

Dave: I tried... I really did. I just can't stay sober.
Mindy: Dave, it's because you're only trying. You're not giving it your all. You should be striving to stay sober, not just trying.

Marcus: I couldn't beat him! I keep trying to win, and he keeps rubbing my face in my efforts!
