Apologies and repentance are overdone to the point that they've lost their point, at what point does the person demanding the apology want you to convert to their belief system?
Sometimes its better to let somebody know you did something on purpose than to think you need their forgiveness to move past it in life, or to repent. Sometimes its better to keep carrying baggage around on your own.
