The word used as an escape when commonly found in a tricky conversation. An easy answer for a yes or no question without consequences. The better form of Maybe. Often most affective when said while using hand gestures.

Speaker 1: "Did you punch yourself in the face while dancing awkwardly?"
Speaker 2: "um... eh. Potentially..."

perennial blast

The Perennial Blast is the name given to a bowling stike where the ball hits 5 pins, specifically the 1,3,5,8, and 9 pins by itself for a right hander (the 1,2,5,8,and 9 for a left hander). The result is the complete and utter destruction of the pin deck. It is a feat so awesome the sound can be heard from outside the bowling establishment in and or beyond the parking lot. Perennial blast strikes are often registered on the richter scale.

(Joe) "WHOA! What da hell was dat sound!! We're at the bowling alley under attack!!" "I thought the war was over." (Mike) "Chill cuz. Dude struck again." (Joe) "Damn!" (Mike) "I know, it was just perennial blast!"

perceived potential

Something anticipated or hoped for without any solid proof or promise.

You hire someone based on their perceived potential, only later you get a solid proof of their capabilities or promise.

When you pursue a girl, you want to date her based on perceived potential of her in your life. Only later you find out who she really is and if it's a good fit or not.

Before you move to a new location (city, area, country), the city has certain perceived potential in your mind. Only after living there for a while, you validate your hopes or assumptions.

The Potential

The term used to describe someone who you're more than friends with, but not in a relationship with. Short for "the potential boyfriend/girlfriend," it is used to define that awkward limbo phase where you're kinda dating/kinda seeing someone.

Son: Hey mom, where's Kelcey?

Mom: She's hanging out with Marco. I think he's The Potential.

Son: Oh geez, God help that poor boy.
