Commonly used as an insult or a description for things which smell horrible and/or are of a dark colour.

It's the first swiss word you learn, because it's so hard to say for non-swiss. It means kitchen cupboard.
When a guy from switzerland walks through a cheap shopping street in any foreign country (by example egypt or mexico), the seller says following:

Seller: hey are you swiss?
Swiss dude: erm yes
Seller: Kukikaestley
Swiss dude: Yes i know that word, but it's pronounced different.
Seller: Kuchikästlee, Kuchichästli
Swiss dude: Yes, correct (and walks away to the next seller that "has been to Switzerland")
