The word facetious is used exclusively by arts students to describe someone being sarcastic.

Its generally said with a smug voice to make the person feel insignificant.
John: I think global warm in is a hoax. Look how cold it is outside!

Sally: John quit being so facetious.

John: Shut the fuck up Sally and keep managing McDonalds.

Facetious

Pronounced “fah-see-shuss”, this word describes when someone doesn’t take a situation seriously, which ironically is very serious indeed. Not sure if there’s a word for that.
Trying to talk to Jim about serious financial issues is difficult because of his facetious personality.

Tom thinks he's being funny, but he's only being facetious and rude.

I tried to let Jessica talk to me about what she's dealing with, but other people kept making facetious comments that made her uncomfortable.

Unique as the only word in the English language to sound like a variation of it's slang definition. In other words: It sounds like it may actually mean "full of feces" although it does not...but it does mean full of shit.
After telling that joke he said he was being facetious, but we all know he was just looking for a smarter sounding way of saying he was full of shit.
