The word "Canny" is most commonly used in Scotland U.K. and Newcastle-upon-Tyne England U.K.
It most commonly means "Cannot" and becomes"Canny" from accents and dialects, most strongly from Scotland and Newcastle upon Tyne (Geordie Land).
However, it has been known to creep into other dialects/accents within the North of England, though is pronounced and spelt every so slightly differently to "Canna".

• "Ahhh canny do tha mate, nae a chance!"(Scottish example meaning: "I can't do that mate, not a chance!")
• "I CANNY///CANNA be arsed to be honest mate" (English or Scottish dialect meaning "I can't be arsed to be honest mate")
