A person you once dated who checked all your boxes of your dream partner but in reality it didn’t work out between y’all and now you’re looking for him/her in every other person you date. Sad but true. I feel you.
Saurabh : Bro ya, she set the bar really high
Lak : Yeah I can relate. She’s your benchmark partner. Good luck finding someone like her. Cause I didn’t.

When one person in a group or family holds on to a symbolic memory or experience with more importance than the other people involved in that experience or memory. For this person, a nostalgic benchmark holds a reference point for a significant event that is no longer significant to others who were involved in this experience or event.
A mother and son always go to a certain restaurant to eat chicken wings. As the son grows older, he no longer likes chicken wings and has no desire to eat them, but the mother insists on going back to the restaurant, which serves the chicken wings that both of them once loved. For the mother this is a nostalgic event, but for the son, who no longer eats chicken wings or likes them, this experience of going to the restaurant to eat chicken wings no longer holds any importance or nostalgia. So, for the mother this is a nostalgic benchmark, but for the son, it has no importance, or nostalgia, it has no benchmark anymore.

The infamous "bozo benchmark" is when you install and start using the thing without reading any directions or warning labels. This benchmark can be used for everything from computer components to motorcycles, weed-whackers, and firearms.
My wife says that the "bozo benchmark" is merely a cheap fiction that I created to justify my typical male tendency to want to wade into stuff without reading the instructions. By enshrining that tendency as a benchmark, I legitimize it! She is, of course, completely correct.

Supervisor: OK Team, when we manufacture these widgets, we need to have no more than 2% rejected by Quality Control. That's the benchmark. OK?

In basic computer lingo it means identifying/measuring your various computer components power. Graphics cards are a popular example of a piece of hardware often benchmarked. You can enhance you computers score and performance also by overclocking your system. Or getting a friend who's a techie to overclock it for you.
I benchmarked my new ATI Radeon 9800 XT and it's score was awe inspiring. I then realized I'd overclocked it way too high and damaged my new $300 piece of hardware.
