a highly over rated weapon. it does have high power but it is inaccurate and has a tendency to jam. easily outmatched by the M4A1. the AK47, however costs less and therefore is more widely used.
the terrorit pulled the trigger of his battered AK47 as he approached the Marine but it was jammed:"Click Click" the Marine then pulled out his M4 and blew the head of the terrorist

Get the ak47mug. The famous Avtomat Klashnikova Model 1947 (AK47) is, along with it's scores of variants, the most widely used and manufacutured assault rifle in the world. Developed orginally for mobile units of the Russian Army, the AK rifles have found their way into the hands from hundreds of other militaries, as well as terrorist groups. Caliber of the orginal AK47/AKM was 7.62x39mm. The 7.62mm caliber has been phased out in Russia, which now favors the 5.45x39mm, chambered in the AK74.

Get the AK47mug. I GOT ONE. MOSTA THESE DEFFINITIONS IS ONLY HALFWAY TRUE. where do i start? i have the sar 1 (search and rescue). it shoots very true providing you know the tajectery of your ammo. most yuppies dont and get on the internet complaing. when the ak came into production the sks went out. the ak was designed for urban warfare. it is not a sniper rifle although an 800 meter (875.1 yard) shot is possible. if you buy one i recomend the chineese military 75/100 round drum wind up type. dosent jam. did i mention that the ak dosent ever jam. (unlike the ar15,m16,m4,etc.) you can without tools break it down and put it back together in the field. sand is not a problem. barrel insides dont rust. its a tough weapon. its like "the glock" of assault rifles. Mr. kalaskinov was a genious. he said let the sights be mounted to the barrel and all the other moveable parts be clanking and banging around behind it. the american gunsmiths however say build it tight. thats why the m16 jams- there is no room for a few grains of sand and thus you need a guide assist rod. you can see daylight between the upper and lower recievers of the m16. they built it real tight huh?

Get the AK47mug. A mass produced 7.62mm automatic rifle with metal body and wood stock (orignal version, many other makes and models have been created by the Chinese, Hungarians, Romanians, Koreans, and numerous other countries). The gun was orginally designed by a Russian man Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1947. The weapon itself is designed on one factor, simplicity. You can litterally pull back the bolt back, throw a handfull of sand in, and it will still function properly. There is a lot of free space inbetween internal parts allowing quite a lot of build up to resinate before malfunctioning. Although it is just a weapon, it is also a symbol of resistance. You will see any Taliban member or terrorist sporting one of these rifles. The rifle can even be seen on the flag of Mozambique.
The infamous Osama bin Laden can even be seen holding and shooting an AK47 in the numerous videos he has released.
