Initialism for African-American Vernacular English; an American English dialect that originated in the Southern United States by African Americans and is still spoken today in many African American communities

AAVE is frequently erroneously described as “Gen-Z speak” or “TikTok slang” which many consider offensive and erasure of Black culture.

Previously, and sometimes still, referred to as Ebonics

Person 1: Ooh chile, I'm finna get lit tonight.
Person 2: Ugh, I hate TikTok slang.
Person 1: It's not TikTok slang, it's AAVE...

Whitegirlified AAVE

A usually written version of African-American Vernacular which has been modified and is used by (primarily) teenage white girls. It's mainly known for it's exaggerated use on Twitter.

Twitter user: "I think whitegirlified aave is disrespectful towards African-Americans"
