Any stop sign located in a town with an incredibly small population in which no one is ever around. Also includes any stop sign at any location promptly after 2 a.m. If the stop sign meets one or both of the criteria, the sign is identified as stoptional and the driver is no longer lawfully obligated to stop. If he or she does so, it is only to be courteous.
Driver: It's already past curfew! There's no time to stop at this stop sign!
Passenger: Dude, chill. It's a stoptional sign.

Stop signs in crazy places that aren’t really necessary. So you consider stopping at them as optional.

what most people think about stop signs and stop lights. Approaching a stop sign and rolling without barely stopping or not at all continuing through the intersection as if no one is looking; as if it’s a right to choose with to stop or simply continue through without consequence.
