stone that the builder refused

1.

The visual
The inspiration
That made lady sing the blues

2.

the spark that makes your idea bright
The same spark
that lights the dark
So that you can know your left from your right

3.
the ballot in your box
The bullet in your gun
The inner glow that lets you know
To call your brother son
The story that just begun
The promise of what's to come

4. The opening line to the Boondocks theme song, "I am the stone that the builder refused"
I am the stone that the builder refused
I am the visual
The inspiration
That made lady sing the blues
Etc...

corporate refugee

It is said of someone that has been downsized, displaced or severed from a long time corporate career.
Most of the time this results in the loss of stability, identity, structure and community.
One morning during the summer of 2002 I was having coffee with a Director of HR. We were friends, so it was nothing out of the ordinary. Out of the blue he said to me, "We need to find you another job!" That was the beginning of the end of my decades long career with a large corporation and the beginning of a very painful journey as another corporate refugee.

refute

To disagree, or assert the opposite.
(The original meaning was to DISPROVE something: "He refuted their claims by referring to widely accepted experimental results". But these days journalists who are unwilling or unable to assess the strength of an argument, or to check facts, just write "refute".)
"The Prime Minister refuted the suggestion that he was a fool, by saying that he wasn't."

Refugees

Those little pieces of poo that are left floating in the toilet from the previous person who failed to flush properly and ensure that the bowl was fully clear before leaving.
I went to the bathroom and the person before me left a bunch of refugees behind. How rude of them.
