Used with military or guys jacked up on action movies, pop smoke comes from the practice of throwing out a smoke grenade to signal/get pickup from some kind of air transport.
Hey Dave, are you going to hang around the party for a while?
No, I'm gonna pop smoke and head to Manny's...I need to get laid.

Other than the military word for literally popping smoke grenades or leaving, Pop Smoke also refers to the late rapper from Brooklyn, New York. An up-and-coming talent, he started blowing up in 2019 with his song "Welcome to the Party", featured on his mixtape Meet the Woo. In February 2020, he released the sequel to the mixtape, Meet the Woo 2. Unfortunately, he was shot and killed in a home invasion a week later. RIP.
Pop Smoke was a lit rapper. You can't deny it, but he was really popping some smoke on his two mixtapes. I wonder when Meet the Woo 3 will come out.

to be/wake up at Pop Smoke concert means that you have died, since he also is dead.
the saying is interchangeable for any popular dead artist therefor useful in any environment, if adjusted.
I've seen it in memes and considered amusing
