In the TCG community , a Garnet refers to s an unplayable card that's in your hand. The term comes from the Yugioh! card "Gem-Knight Garnet" which was played so often with another card called "Brillant Fusion' that opening it was nothing short of a brick.

Friend: "How did your games go?"
Other friend: "Bad, I opened nothing but Garnets."

Garnet

Garnet is a character from the Cartoon Network show Steven Universe written by Cartoon Network's first female producer Rebecca Sugar. Garnet is the current leader of the Crystal Gems, a group that rebelled against Homeworld and the Diamonds. Garnet is a fusion of two gems: A ruby and a sapphire. Garnet can see into the future because of sapphire's future vision ability and is incredibly strong because of ruby. Garnet is the embodiment of ruby and sapphire's love for each other.

Oh my gosh, if one of the Crystal Gems could be my mom, I would want it to be Garnet! She is so awesome and sweet!

To date, screw or marry a person that is significantly older than one's self. This would be the opposite of robbing the cradle where you date someone younger. The gurney would be compared to the cradle in that people that are old or near death lie in a gurney.

Dude, did you meed Rob's new lady? He's only 25 but She's gotta be like, 48 years old! He's totally robbing the gurney on that one.

Stems from ancient scottish traditions of having gurner competitions which were competitions in facial contortion to pull ugly faces.
