Old person, usually of grandfather age defined by an ability to nap through nearly any life situation. The term was given to describe the iron grasp such a 'grain grippa' has to their wooden rocking chair during such a siesta.

A common online name for a mental hospitals, often due to the fact that you get socks with grips on the bottoms instead of shoes.

Griptape thumb

A very common skin condition that affects many skateboarders, griptape thumb is the wear and tear of the skin on the thumb caused by new griptape (an adhesive-backed, sandpaper-like sheet applied to the top of a skateboard which gives the rider grip).

To prevent griptape thumb, wrap your thumb in medical tape before a skate session.

grippy sock vacation

A stay in the mental hospital. Name taken from the grippy socks given to (mostly involuntary) patients. Patients are not allowed shoes with laces due to suicide risk so grippy socks like those used at trampoline parks are issued to patients for footwear.
