They DO NOT wear clothes that are 10 times too big for them. DO NOT CONFUSE WITH A THUG, GANGSTA OR ANY OTHER SCUMBAG OF SOCIETY. real gangsters are few nowdays, however the increase of 'bad-ass' gangsters haha who walk with a limp and slur when they talk is on the increase.

A person who has become a master of his environment. A gangster gets what he wants when he wants it. It is someone who has figured out the system and and uses it to achieve his goals. Typically a gangster turns to illegal means of making money because they are more profitable. A gangster has a very high opinion of himself because he has built his life and maintains his lifestyle through his own means.
Being a gangster is not about being a violent criminal. In fact, gangsters prefer not to be violent because it often gets in the way of profits. Gangsters are not afraid to become violent when necessary though.
Respect is the second most important currency to a gangster, behind money. A true gangster gives respect, and demands it in return.
In short, a gangster is a pure capitalist, using his own resources to get what he wants.

Gangsters are often portrayed as members of the African American Underclass when they come from a variety of backgrounds. True Gangsters were members of Mafias and commited white collar crimes. They were generally wealthy, prestigous, and unlike the "Gangsters" of today, had an elementary school education.
The other type of Gangster would be the trash that prowls the streets. Their habitats range from D-class projects to shitty homes with appliances on the lawn and they have little knowledge of the outside world, resulting in a lack of morals, and the intelligence of an aggressive goat. Gangsters often rob stores with items anyone can afford, they have killed the innocent, including small children. Gangsters are sick bastards that have no value. They plague cities. Gangsters cause racism and without them, the US would be a much better country. Gangsters hate the police, heck they hate anyting that is more valuable in society than they are.

A member of a gang. "Gangsters" refers back to the 1920s during Prohibition era when alcohol was illegal. Gangsters would bootleg alcohol to be sold at speakeasies. In the 21st century, the new term is "Gangsta," which is really a person, usually a lower-middle class or poor African-American male, who dons the title to intimidate others. Often in the right situations "gangstas" are the first to run away in scenarios that they claim to always see.
