A shortening of the word crotchety, is used to refer to an old person who’s old, bitter, slow, stubborn, not with the times, et cetera. Used as a pejorative

The old man Peanut who lives next door is so crotchy, he’s always yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off his lawn.
