To choose a college major or enroll in a training program for a job field or profession that is desperate for applicants and is hiring like crazy but by the time you complete your education/training the market for your skill has become saturated and nobody is hiring.
Before I enrolled in college there was a shortage of electrical engineers,they were hiring like crazy and making top dollar.Four years later I have my degree but all the jobs have been filled.I just got career-holed .
The thin layer of potential for career advancement, increase in pay and future opportunities that an employer paints on your job to convince you that the future holds something more than you are currently experiencing.
I had my first year appraisal at the McDonaldstoday. They painted a bit of a career veneer over the last year.
1) Noun; a person who keeps making very stupid decisions while at the same time lacking the prudence to learn from his or her mistakes, therefore doomed to make the same mistakes again and again.
Figuratively speaking, someone who fell down the "stupid tree" and hit every brach on the way down.
2) Noun; synonymous for con artist. A person who continues to engage in irresponsible/stupid behaviour and uses the consequences of such behaviour to make him-/herself "the victim" in order to gain pity or sympathy.
We do not wish to encourage career victims, nor do we wish to penalize customers who make the occassional mistake.
This definition can also be used playfully amongst colleagues suggest how unfavourable a certain option may be or the relevant risk involved.
"I'll back up that computer before I run that update on Jim's computer, accidentally breaking the CEOs computer could be *potentially* career limiting."
