Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty is a popular Japanese character. It is a literal modern translation of 'Maneki Neko' or, the 'Beckoning Cat' which is a symbol of welcome and is used in many Japenese/Chinese store entrances. Sometimes Maneki Neko has his left paw up, sometimes the right. The left paw signifies that the business owner is inviting in it's customers. The right paw invites in money or good fortune. Most Maneki Neko's are calico cats; the male calico is so rare it's considered lucky in Japan But Maneki Neko may be white, black, red, gold, or pink to ward off illness, bad luck, or evil spirits and bring financial success, good luck, health and love. Maneki Nekos made in Japan show the palm of the paw, imitating the manner in which Japenese people beckon. North American Maneki Nekos show the back of the paw, imitating the way we gesture 'come here.' The higher Maneki Neko holds his paw, the more good fortune is being invited.

According to legend, that cat, called Tama, lived in a poverty stricken temple in 17th century Tokyo. The temple priest often scolded Tama for contributing nothing to the upkeep of the temple. Then one day, a powerful feudal lord named Naotaka Ii was caught in a rainstorm near the temple while returning home from a fishing trip. As the lord took refuge under a big tree, he noticed Tama with her paw raised, beckoning to him, inviting him to nter he temple's front gate. Intrigued, Naotaka decided to get a closer look at he cat. Suddenly, the tree was struck by lightening and fell on the exact spot where the lord had just been standing. Tama had saved his life! In gratitude, Naotaka made the little temple his family temple and became it's benefactor. Tama and the priest never went hungry again. After a long life, Tama was buried in gratitude at the Goutokuji temple. Goutokuji still exists, housing dozens of statues of the Beckoning Cat.

Hello Kitty is the modern version of this, so many kids have good fortune (probably)

Boo Boo Kitty

In the 1960s TV show Laverne & Shirley, a black stuffed cat was named Boo Boo Kitty. This was Shirley’s childhood toy that she would cradle when she was sad. Actress Cindy Williams created this name one day while shooting a scene “off the cuff” when she grabbed a prop cat and the term just came out. Because SHE is brilliant. Others have since copied the term, one has claimed it as her own- but make no mistake it originated on this widely watched TV show that has been in re-runs for decades.

Laverne!!! I am so sad, I can’t believe that guy stood me up! Where’s Boo Boo Kitty??!

Kitty

A smart, lovely, beautiful, and amazing person
Has trouble in life but does not use sex as a fill like others
Is not a whore like people she knows

Is very talented and outgoing
She is a lover and not a fighter; but she will fight for what she loves
Keeps friends close and protects them from rumors
Stands up for herself and others
Hates conflict; but not afraid to speak her mind
Keeps all promises and never betrays her peers
Kitty is an amazing girl; and an absolutely an amazing friend she is shy at first but once you get to know her she is loud and out of control
She is heart broken or depressed often and needs someone to catch her when she falls
Its easy for her to find a boyfriend because she is beautiful beyond the word beautiful goes....and anyone will be lucky to have an outstanding friend or lover like her

kitty guillotine

When you have a screen door without a screen, you open the sliding window and attempt to secure it open. This is used if you don't yet have a cat door and want to let your cats in and out freely.
Sometimes the window that you thought was secure can fall, mid jump of the cat, and provide you with two kitties instead.
Disclaimer: This has not happened to our cats, although close calls have occured. This redneck contraption is what we refer to as a kitty guillotine.
