When your co-worker(s) mysteriously become sick before a holiday. Usually a lazy worker who doesn't want to work before a holiday because he or she would rather be home. A worker who makes up a sickness of some sort to cover for his or her lazy intentions of really not being sick.

A relative that never varies their holiday routine and expects you to show up at every Thanksgiving and Christmas at their house and stay half the day making small talk and eating shitty food.
A relative that chides you and goats you and makes you feel guilty, as though their world would end if you did not spend every Thanksgiving and Christmas with them doing the same damn thing.
