Usually a very early time; specifically, sunrise, but can be used to describe any ungodly-early hour. More often used by folk of rural upbringing.

Get the Big Dawg mug.A WB tv series which started in 1998. Was one of the many WB shows aimed at teenage audiences at this time. Since the cancellation of 90210 the teen genre had sort of dissolved; then Dawsons Creek, Roswell, Felicity, Buffy, 7th Heaven etc.... came along and breathed life back into the WB. Now teen audiences is mainly what the WB targets and is known for.
DAWSON'S CREEK was basically about " Four friends in a small coastal town help each other cope with adolescence."

Bob: Have you talked to Mark lately? I think his dad died.
Rick:Nah, man. But that explains why he hasn't been hanging out much. So, when did you talk to him?
Bob: Oh, actually I haven't talked to or seen him yet...
Rick: Then how did you know his dad was dead?
Bob: Well they had that other guy working at the hardware store everyday and I asked where his dad was. They said "he's no longer with us." I just thought they meant he quit, but it didn't dawn on me until later that they meant he passed away.
Rick: What a drag...

Get the Dawn on me mug. It's like saying "aw", only you start out with your mouth closed, so it comes out as "d'aw". It's not commonly known, but it is commonly said. Nor is it a proper contraction, but something said unconsciously.
