A comment on a Facebook item (e.g. status, note, etc) that was removed by the author due to A) misspelling, B) stupid remark, C) awkward input, or D) other.

The result is typically confusion and several wasted minutes on the part of the one who was commented on or anyone who posted previously.

Facebook: XYZ commented on your note.
Me: ...where's the comment? Jeez, way to ghost post, XYZ.

ring the post 

v. In ice hockey, it means to barely miss a goal when a shot eludes the goaltender, yet deflects back into play after hitting either the left or right goalpost. A hard rubber puck shot at high velocity makes a "ringing" sound, much like that of a bell, when it hits the metal goalpost, thus "ring(ing) the post." You can also "ring the crossbar" if a rising shot hits the top bar connecting the goalposts. The goaltender is considered very lucky if he is bailed out by such an event.

Wisconsin would have beat Minnesota by an even greater margin if they didn't ring the post five times. Man their goalie is a great big sieve.

One of the most prestigious & credible news organizations along with The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. After all, the paper is the reason why Richard Nixon resigned.

While Trump supporters hate it, but it's also a thorn to the sides of every Bernie Bro because they despise that an evil billionaire like Jeff Bezos owns it and when reporters write pieces to let readers know that Bernie Sanders is a divisive old goat making proposals that are economically impossible. Cults don't like it when their almighty leaders get fact checked.

canadian national newspaper, the canadian equivalent of the usa today. absolutely obsessed with terrorism, israel and celine dion, and it is a sure bet that any day's headline not being about "NEW TERROR THREAT TO CANADIAN FAMILIES!!!" will be either "SHANIA UNVEILS NEW SHOES!!!" or "CELINE RETURNS!!!"

Billy picked up the day's National Post. The front page headline read, in 40-point type, "POTENTIAL TERROR ATTACK! UNIDENTIFIED LARGE BLOB OF FATTY SUBSTANCE WASHES ASHORE!"

Billy scratched his head. Had no one thought of the possibility that Celine Dion's husband may have been out yachting?
