Get the jocks mug.Saying popularised in Glaswegian football, in particular by Old Firm fans. This saying refers to the ex-manager of Celtic Football Club Jock Stein. In the early 1970s, young boys were abused by a youth coach at the club called James Torbett. Stein aka Big Jock is reputeded to have known about this and not reported the matter to the authorities, and also been part of a cover up within Celtic Football Club.
Hence the saying "Big Jock Knew".

Sports/athletic participants (“jocks”) are viewed, by those in charge, as the greatest heroes of this environment. They are usually aware of this, and take unfair advantage of it – usually exerting unfair influence on non-jocks, and non-athletic instructors. Often, they get away with this more freely than others would. (This usually drags down the actual educational standards of the entire institution.)
Commercial work situations managed by rabid sports fans can have a similar situation.
