Onus Shift

The process of calling someone that you know is not home, or cannot answer, for the sole purpose of shifting the responsibility of the return call to the other person.

Cake Shift

A "Cake Shift" is a restaurant term for an very easy shift. It is typically used to describe a slower shift but is also used to talk about a shift that went so smoothly that you didn't have to think much as you completed the shift.

Tom: How was last night at the restaurant?
Steve: We were so organized and ready for pop, it was a cake shift.

Shift Bitch

The employee who is usually asked/ told by management to fill in for coworkers who call in sick or are otherwise unavailable to work their originally assigned shift.

Employee 1: Damn man, I’m pulling double shifts twice this week because everybody else punked out.
