"Gat" (ğát), noun. Afrikaans: pronounced with the "g" sounding like a piece of metal being sawed slowly with a hand saw, is a South African slang term literally referring to the "hole" in one's hindquarters. It can be used in a wide array of ways: 1) "Gatkruip" (ğátkřuyp), verb. meaning lit. "arse crawling" or referring to someone seek special favours from someone else, by trying to get into their good books. In English, this is known as "brown nosing". 2) "Gat gabba" (ğát-ğábba), noun. which is often used as a derogatory pronoun for a gay man, but may also be used for someone annoying and persistent, who is literally on your arse 24/7.
