waiting line fiction

Low brow, formulaic fiction novels usually only found in grocery stores and drug stores. The only time they do get noticed/purchased is when the individual is forced to wait in line for a long time.

With titles like "No Escape" and "The Final Surrender," Bob figured both novels had to be good...after standing in line for 20 minutes. He only realized what he had when he got home; the novels were both waiting line fiction.

The act of spending time waiting for something that will ultimately be harmful or pointless.

1. I can't stand in line for these Spearmint Rhino fund-raiser tickets any more- we're just waiting for Ricky.
2. That guy with his hands in his pocket outside of the club is totally waiting for Ricky.
3. Waiting for rain is sometimes like waiting for RIcky.

Friend waiting room

Friend waiting room is similar to a friendzone. It usually describes two people in a close friendship that for several reasons are not ready to commit to a real relationship but in the future plan/can be a couple

John : Do you want to go out with me?

Sarah : No. I'm not friendzoning you though, I just can't commit to a relationship yet. I will put you in a friend waiting room for now.

John : Okay, I understand.

Waiting for Godot-Girl

When a man spends all night waiting for a girl who should have come to meet for a date hours ago, but she never turns up. Similar to being stood up, but with more existential loneliness than just missing out on action with the ladies.

1: He's spent all night Waiting for Godot-Girl. Poor guy needs some self respect to ditch that biatch.

2: Sandra: Poor John's been Waiting for Godot-Girl, I better call him back and apologise for not showing up.

waiting list

Slang used by private schools to say "no" nicely. Few people actually get admitted from it.

For people who don't know, the waiting list is a thing (apparently) that they have that they collect people if it is too late to be admitted for the private school. If someone drops out of admission to a certain private school someone from the waiting list will be admitted.

That's what they say, but nobody knows.

"We'll put you on the waiting list."
"Ah shit the waiting list!"
