When something is so gay (here meaning 'awful') that it cannot be defined in terms of anything other than the most awful thing to happen to literature this century.

Most often applied to books, bookish people or book-related things.

Consuming a large amount of booze so that it causes the person drinking to place a lamp-shade on top of their head and dance around the room chanting.

Inna had so much Vodka on New Year's she got Lamp -Shade -Drunk and ended up apssing out an hour later on Jenny's Lap.

Shutter Shades

Plastic, usually bright-colored sunglasses with horizontal plastic strips where the lenses would be, thus giving the effect of a shutter while defeating the purpose of sunglasses. Shutter shades were debuted by Kanye West.

I was so excited when I bought a pair of shutter shades on sale, until I realized that there was nowhere I could wear them to.
