Most commonly found in drug culture in countries primarily using the Metric system (i.e. Australia) as some dealers are unaware of how much an ounce actually is, how to set their scales to Imperial units, and/or cannot be bothered measuring to exactly 28.35g. Among some drug users and dealers a Metric ounce is considered to be the standard measurement for an ounce, and is even just referred to as an ounce.
