Lighting a Match

Used to describe something or someone who is simple and authentic, like someone who prefers using a match to a lighter. IE: Going to farmers markets, paying in cash, going on walks, driving stick, outgoing, likes to try new places, has a favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant, cooking eggs, etc

Wow Jane just walked all the way to the farmers market on the other side of town to buy some organic eggs in cash, that’s so lighting a match.

Idiot light

A lighted indicator on your car's dashboard that appears when you are getting dangerously low on fuel. It is a little red dot that lights up next to the E on your gas gauge. Where it lights up on the dashboard, the amount of gas that is left in your gas tank, and how far you can drive before running out of gas is different for each car make/model. It is called an idiot light because you are an idiot if you don't get more gas, or you're an idiot for letting your gas go so low.

Oh no, my idiot light just came on. I have just enough gas to get to my destination, but I'll have to get gas on the way home.

Light shamp

Definition:
A decorative or protective cover placed over a light bulb, often used to diffuse or soften the brightness of a light. A modern or alternative term for “lampshade.”

Example sentence:
“Hey, the light shamp in the hallway is crooked again.”
“She got matching light shamps for every lamp in the house.”
