it takes strength, determination, skill, rhythm, and coordination.
especially competitive all-star cheerleading.
other athletes lift weight but we lift people.
and that takes some mad skills.
its a lot harder then it looks.
i mean you torture yourself all year just to be able to do another flip.
its crazy.
and you get points off for being sexy, so all you guys who think thats all we do your wrong.
and looks don't matter in cheer.
i am sorry that we look good while we work our asses off.
and that 2 minute and 30 second routine kills.
if you have any problems try it.

Get the Cheerleadingmug. Starting in May of 2011, the NCAA is making CHEERLEADING a national sport. Cheerleading is the SPORT in which the team or SQUAD members, CHEERLEADERS, participate in multiple activities such as JUMPING, TUMBLING, STUNTING, and of course, CHEERING. There are multiple types of complicated jumps, hurdlers and toe toe-touches to start, that require immense amounts of flexibility. Tumbling is the gymnastics portion of cheerleading, consisting of tucks, handsprings, and more. Stunting is by far the most dangerous aspect, involving two BASES and one BACKSPOT throwing a FLYER up in the air to do various tricks before catching them again. This takes a great amount of strength, trust, and training by the cheerleaders. They can either be males or females, and they compete in various competitions worldwide. A cheerleader must be a strong, flexible, dedicated, and trustworthy person in order to be a member of the cheerleading squad. Although stereotyped, these members of society are actually highly respectable and turn out to be extremely successful. Examples of famous previous cheerleaders are: Kelly Ripa, Dakota Fanning, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz, and Sally Fields. You go girls!

Dwight D. Eisenhower, Franklin D Roosevelt, Halle Berry, Jamie Lee Curtis, Madonna, Meryl Streep, Paula Abdul, Steve Martin, George W. Bush, and many other very respected people were all cheerleaders.

Cheerleading of the current day and age is intensely competitive, with close to 1000 competitions held yearly in the US alone. Although some annoying people insist cheerleading is not a sport, we practice just as hard as any other sport, we condition at every practice, must combine tremendous strength and grace into one full out routine which consists of cheer, dance, jumps, stunts, and attitude in order to compete, and take first place. We run to build stamina for a five minute performance without stopping, and condition more than some football teams. Although some claim we are bitchy I feel anyone who can catagorize a person simply by the sport they may do is stupid. You probably just cannot get with a cheerleader and therefore leave rude comments about them on sites like these. Hey everybody! GROW UP. You couldn't do it if you tried. Don't speak poorly of somrthing you know nothing about :-D **Smiling like a cheerleader** Buh Bye assholes.
Cheerleaders who spend 2-3 hours a day practicing, not only for games (ie basketball or football) but also for competitions in which they compete against challenging competition, often said to not be a sport by ignorant people but quite obviously is.

Get the cheerleadingmug. All Star Cheerleading is the HARDEST SPORT out there. Idc about all of you poor ignorant people who say it's not a sport. It's a performing sport, such as gymnastics. Also, not all cheerleaders are whores, just the school cheerleaders. & i noticed some people on here claimed it's not a sport b/c there's no set points for anything... well, i got news for you, it does. What do you think the judges do? They fill out SCORE SHEETS. Just like in gymnastics. Another thing I've noticed is that people are claiming that things like field hockey or soccer are sports.. which they are, however, they're POOR PEOPLE SPORTS! Cheerleading costs a lot of money.. it's obvious why most people have never tried it. & about the anorexic things, guys liking us more than you OTHER GIRLS thing, you need to stop being jealous, you tried out & didn't make it, ADMIT IT! cheerleading is very physically demanding, involving tumbling, and stunting, which i bet most of you don't even know what those 2 things are...
