A Jet-powered Aircraft used primarily for air to air combat. Aircrafts of this type are usually light, fast and maneuverable, although modern designs places less emphasis on lightness and maneuverability due to advancements in Air-to-Air Missiles and the increase in Beyond-Visual-Range engagement technologies.

Differentiate from Interceptor

A: "Look! That plane is so fast!
B: "Yes, because it's a jet fighter"

1. A discount airfare sevicebased out of Atlanta, eventualy forced out of service from maintenance issues and a crash in a Florida bog. Now doing business as AirTran Airways.

Usually used as a perjorative, as in the term "Bogger than Value-Jet.

"Given a choice between traveling with your mother, and on goatback, I think I'd consider taking Value Jet."

The dirty jet is when you're a mom and need to fart. So You shit your pants on an elevator. Then everyone gets out and your kids yell MOM!
