These country fried steak fed individuals value certain things like lifted trucks over investing for retirement. They also insist on bragging how tough they are by “telling a motherfucker”, especially when confronted in a Chili’s parking lot. A key symptom of having the syndrome is saying “yup” or “mmhmm” when another Regional affected by Regionaltism says “yup” or “mmhmm.” They also have folktales that will top any story being told, at any given time, about any topic. These stories range from wining State, pulling a gun on someone, to heroic tales of gallantry on the battlefield while serving in the Air Force away from the frontlines. Being a Regional can be cured but very few people can beat the disorder.
