flyover states

A pejorative term used by residents of either coast to refer to all US states that do not border an ocean, particularly those in the Midwest.

Person 1: "Where are you from?"
Person 2: "Chicago.
Person 1: "Where the hell is that? Is it a foreign country like Africa or something?"
Person 2: "No, it's in the US."
Person 1: "What state? Probably some lame state like East Dakota or Toronto or Mt. Rushmore."
Person 2: "Illinois actually."
Person 1: "AHAHAHAHAHA LOOOOOOSER! It must suck ass living in the flyover states! Picking corn and milking cows and going to pig shows and shit. Your life sounds terrible."
Person 2: "Yeah...where are you from?"
Person 1: "Stockton, beeotch. Eat that."
Person 2: "Where is that?"
Person 1: "Um, hello, California, duh."
Person 2: "Oh that place. I remember seeing it in a Most Depressing Cities in the US article. Must be awesome sitting in front of your foreclosed mobile home watching Teen Mom reruns on an old black and white TV, wishing you'd catch a break and get cast in the next season, all while trying not to get shot."
Person 1: "Yeah, it is awesome."

freak stage

The period of ugliness during the teenage years due to features (e.g. nose or ears) growing at a different rate to the rest of the face. Subject possesses an excess of puppy fat, frequently wearing braces. Has not yet figured out clothing/make-up/identity.

That photo is so embarrassing, I was right in the middle of my freak stage.

United States Naval Academy

A school designed to be utter hell but to fortify your future where other academy grads provide you jobs regardless of your competence. Midshipmen training includes condescension, premature judgments, and spreading pain previously received by the trainer because "it happened to them." Lieutenants act like Admirals and Senior midshipmen act like Lieutenants, while Senior Enlisted generally take out their own suffering and marital problems on the midshipmen. The average Naval Academy midshipman is a bro and drinking is a competitive sport. Service selection is based fifty percent on how well you hide your flaws from the public as well as general butt kissing. Alumni love the Naval Academy because their brains have blocked out the negative memories and only left the positives.

"Really? Why?"
"Uh, Its great!"

Red states

To give a REAL definition and not bash the right for a change of pace, this is the term given to states during elections that have more Republican votes than Democratic votes.

States' Rights

1) A reference to the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

2) A code word that politicians use to signal to racists that they too, are racist. Used in the past to signal that you support segregation and Jim Crow laws.

When Strom Thurmond said he believed in State's Rights, he really meant that he wanted to keep segregation legal in the South.

If you believe in States' Rights but want to pass the Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, you are a hypocrite.
