Dammit

A small part, usually a fastener, that rolls off your workbench and falls, ending up in the darkest, most inaccessible place it can find on the floor. Usually found by bare feet, painfully.

Ouch!!! I just stepped on one of those dammits I lost yesterday.

So named for a faux-Harry Potter spell that makes people inexplicably stupid. Used to describe why someone could be stupid on purpose.

When volunteer editors nix a correct term in favor a blatantly wrong one already posted, or allow--then "whoops!" delete--an obvious jibe, they must have been struck by the Dimwitticus curse.
