1. The fourth planet from the Sun, it's often called the Red Planet because of the planet's red, blood-like, color. Its day is similar to Earth's, about 24 hours, and orbits the Sun once every 687 days. Mars is named after the Roman god of war, the equivalent of Ares.

2. The Roman god of war, the same god as the Greek god of war, Ares. Blood is often associated with Mars/Ares, which is how the Red Planet got its name.

1. Mars is the planet for study for most of the Earth's space programs.

2. The Romans loved Mars, mostly because of their warrior spirit. (correct me if I'm wrong)

4th planet from the sun, it is very red due to iron oxyde. It could support life if you did some terraforming. It is also very cold due to it having no atmosphere and being far away from the sun.
